The Experience
Morning departure by boat from Lamin Lodge. Navigate mangrove channels into the heart of Makasutu Forest. Walk the forest trails with an expert nature guide. Arrive at a local Mandinka fishing village for a traditional welcome and lunch cooked by the community. Afternoon return with a stop for wildlife spotting.
Cultural Context
Makasutu means 'Holy Forest' in Mandinka. It is a sacred space where local traditions and animist beliefs have been preserved for centuries.
